In the wake of COVID-19, it becomes problematic for people to pay you with a card reader. CDC has advised people to stay indoors and wear masks, but when we visit a local store, you still have to swipe your card at a card reader. The card reader is touched and swiped by many, which creates an issue to potentially spread the virus. It’s not safe for customers or employees.

Contactless payment is the way to go.

There are a few methods of contactless payments:

  • Apple pay. Apple Pay uses the near-field communication (NFC) chips embedded in your iPhone and Apple Watch to pay for goods and services by holding the device near a card reader, as you would a contactless debit card. You can also use Apple Pay to make single touch purchases within apps.
  • Google pay. You can pay with Google Pay wherever you see Google Pay symbols. To make contactless payments, turn on near field communication (NFC).
  • Contactless credit card. Contactless credit cards have a small embedded chip that emits short-range radio waves. When you place your card within a few inches of a contactless-enabled payment terminal, your payment information is transferred. While it’s often referred to as “tap to pay,” no tapping is actually needed.
  • Text to pay. This is the new trend of contactless payment, offered by WikiPro.

Apple pay or Google pay requires the merchants to sign up the Apple pay or Google pay program. A lot of merchants have do not have Apple pay or Google pay yet. As for a contactless credit card, merchant has to buy a contactless card reader.
